![]() ![]() As a consolation, each time a run ends, players earn progress toward unlocking new, more powerful Disciples. Once a player's essence reaches zero, the run ends. All of these will cost Demonic Essence, which is limited. Players can enter Devil Mode and create portals to bypass unsavory situations, alter Disciple Health Points and Spirit Points, move buffs and debuffs between Disciples and Enemies, and increase the chances of success for certain options during Story Events. What stands out most about Rogue Lords compared to other roguelike games is the cheating element. Related: Quinterra Early Access Preview: A Land of Confusion Finally, players may experience Utility events, like a Styx fountain to replenish the Devil's Essence or remove negative traits from the Disciples or the Grim Reaper, who sells skills and trinkets in exchange for collected Souls. At the end of the event, characters will receive new traits or skills to improve their combat and effectiveness in Story Events, or players will receive Souls, Terror effects, or Demonic Essence for their troubles. Similar to the mechanics of a traditional RPG, players will select one Disciple to be the actor in a short scenario, then will choose the Disciple's actions and responses in Story. There are three major events players may experience in Rogue Lords: Combat, Story, and Utility. Players will face regular grunts or elite enemies in turn-based combat multiple times throughout each book chapter in Combat. ![]()
